MENTOR
Tony Pietra
Film Director
Tony began as an offline editor before pursuing a career in directing and IP development. His first foray into features were in two indie/omnibus projects: The Malaysian-made Cuak and the international CollabFeature's Train Station. A trio of co-directing efforts followed: Monster movie Safari Mall, martial arts actioner Red Storm aka Thermal Rescue and supernatural horror The Dark Eye.
Shadowplay is his "solo" directorial debut; a neo-noir detective mystery that is digitally released in North America. It was followed by Devoted, a drama/thriller saga streaming on Viu Malaysia. With his Indonesian-born "third culture" background, Tony plans to establish a transnational signature in his genre-focused work.
Recently, Tony was one of the episodic directors on the Astro Shaw whodunit, Murder by Moonlight. He fully helmed Persepsi, a psychological suspense series for mainstream Malaysian studio Skop Productions and digital platform Sooka. His next film is a US-based micro-budget anthology titled The Face of Gone.
